Aim of the ILM Influencing Others Endorsed Award

To provide those new to management with the skills, techniques and confidence to manage demanding people and situations.

Target Audience

Managers and leaders at all levels.

Objectives

These modules will enable candidates to:

  • influence others through verbal and non-verbal communication
  • build rapport with others more easily
  • be assertive - without seeming arrogant
  • have presence in key situations
  • gain even greater credibility in their roles
  • utilise their strengths in the influencing and decision making process
  • enhance their decision making
  • build trusting and respectful relationships with others more easily

Structure

A 4 module programme comprising 14 guided learning hours in total, which can be delivered flexibly to suit your needs.  We can deliver on consecutive days - or spread the programme out over a number of months.

Pre-module work

Prior to the start of the programme, delegates will be asked to complete a self-assessment to evaluate their current levels of performance in the key areas of the programme.

As the programme focuses heavily on self-awareness and self-management, the pre-module work will be tailored to individual needs and situations.

Module 1.  Influencing through communication
This module looks at verbal and non-verbal communication and the role that presence, assertiveness and rapport play.

Module 2.  Influencing your work team
Putting these skills into practice to get the best out of your work team and improve performance and teamwork.

Module 3.  Influencing upwards
We look at how you can influence your boss and anyone else you may report to, in an effective way

Module 4.  Influencing decisions
One of the core influencing skills is how you influence through decision making.  This can be a challenge for many reasons and this individually tailored module looks at strategies to boost decision making abilities.
